Tasting Notes and Scores
(100% vendange entier ; 50% new oak):Bright medium red. Musky aromas of redcurrant and animal fur. The wild character carries through on the pliant palate, where red berry and mineral flavors are complicated by subtle earth tones and a whiff of fresh porcini. A potentially excellent Corton wine: vibrant, refined and very long, with harmonious tannins.

Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, the 2014 Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi from de Montille offers what you might call a noble bouquet befitting a grand cru with a complex, quite captivating mélange of dark berry fruit, sous bois and tea leaves. The palate is medium-bodied with some stem addition that defines the first half. But it works well: fresh and lively, sufficient fruit with a harmonious and quite persistent finish. Certainly this was one of the best wines that was shown at this blind tasting from the domaine. Tasted September 2017.

No hail! 100% whole bunch, 50% new oak. Bright blueish crimson. Very light nose. Sweet and charming on the palate though arguably not exactly grand cru intensity. Much fruitier and juicier than the hailed Rugiens. (JR)
