Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru comes from a parcel of 60 to 70-year old vines, close to Griotte-Chambertin and contains 30% whole bunches and 70% new oak. The bouquet has more complexity than the Mazoyères-Chambertin: vivid red berries, minerals and wild hedgerow, perhaps the whole bunch addition making a crucial difference. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, gentle grip, and good backbone with fine salinity on the finish. Excellent.
