The 2015 Fixin Village is 100% whole bunch fruit with 20% new oak, this cru going through its malolactic more quickly than others. It has a bright, almost pastille-like bouquet whereby it's damn difficult to detect that stem addition, a sign of very fine winemaking nous. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin, vivid black cherry and cranberry fruit, with fine structure and precision on the finish. This is an elegant Fixin with great mineral expression.

(from parcels on the north and south sides of the village, on deeper soil and calcaire , respectively; vinified with 100% whole clusters): Bright medium red. Piquant peppery lift to the aromas of black raspberry, iron and spices. A juicy, savory Fixin, with dark berry and bitter chocolate flavors currently cut off by slightly tough oak-driven tannins. In a rather muscular style but with no shortage of flavor. Mortet noted that it would have been very hard to destem these tiny millerandé berries.

Solid, dense and very firm. Not very subtle – a bit of a sledgehammer. (JR)
