Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a pretty bouquet, beautifully defined with pure red berry fruit, kirsch, orange pith and just a touch of warm bricks. Maybe just a tiny bit of alcoholic warmth, but in keeping with the vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine delineation, fresh with the exuberance and florality expected from this Premier Cru. Fine mineralité and just the right amount of spiciness, that fans out with confidence towards the finish that feels long, but just misses a little precision and mineralité . Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Barrel sample but already racked and back into barrel. Seductive in its dark cherry perfume and sweet but not overly sweet scent. There’s spice here too. Not open today but still showing extreme purity of fruit. Tannins are just gorgeous, very fine, almost silky, dry but somehow sweet. Then a long, cool, scented finish. A young beauty. (JH)
