Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru has a vivid bouquet of red cherries, cranberry and raspberry preserve enmeshed with crushed stone and light sous-bois scents, all very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple entry, offering crisp red berry fruit laced with white pepper and clove. This is so harmonious – not the most powerful Fuées I have encountered, but sleek and sensual.

Barrel sample but already racked and back into barrel. Prettier than the village Chambolle, with lively red-cherry aroma. But more depth here. Richer and fuller in the mouth too and the tannins stretch it out to a long finish. Darker and more savoury on the palate than the nose predicted. Dry tannic finesse and so much freshness. Mouth-watering and has hidden depths at the moment. (JH)
