Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Village has quite a potent, an almost atypically ostentatious bouquet of red fruit that is in keeping with the vintage and lacks the clarity of the 2010. Yet, with aeration, it seems to clarify and become irresistible with rose petals and violet plumes. The palate is medium-bodied yet certainly more decadent than Mugnier's usual style, yet likewise, it improves in the glass and eventually outclasses the 2010 tasted directly alongside. Wonderful. Tasted at lunch during Burgfest.

The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny boasts gorgeous depth and elegance at this level. Sweet hard candy, flowers and licorice are some of the many nuances that emerge from a wine that represents a quintessential expression of Chambolle and the vintage. The 2009 is intensely perfumed, sexy and inviting. It is a great introduction to the wines of Frederic Mugnier.

A reasonably fresh and quite expressive red berry fruit nose displays a very subtle hint of spiciness that continues onto the rich, generous and mouth coating middle weight flavors that exude a fine minerality on the delicious and solidly lingering finish. This has the balance to age but also the fat to allow it to be enjoyed young. A very fine villages.

Supersweet, sexy aromas of raspberry jam and cherry candy. Fat, sweet and easygoing; this is downright confectionery. Finishes a bit aggressive, with some alcoholic warmth and slightly drying tannins.
