Tasting Notes and Scores

90 NM

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village has an outgoing bouquet of blackberry, wild hedgerow, heather and woodland aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, darker fruit than expected and traces of black tea and undergrowth toward the composed finish. Very fine.

16.5 JH

La Combe d’Orveau and the more northerly Les Plantes premier cru (planted 1967). Final blend. Barrel sample. Mid cherry red. Lifted, pretty red-cherry aroma. Pure cherry, bright and sweet. Gently chewy, ripe tannins and still fresh, with some oak spice on the finish. Fresh but there’s power behind the freshness. Not as silky as some Chambolle wines in this vintage. Lots of fruit and freshness if not the finesse. (JH)
