Tasting Notes and Scores
This hasn't changed much since my 2010 review as it remains strikingly complex with an ripe, pure and airy nose that speaks elegantly of white flower, spice and subtle pear aromas that complement perfectly the rich and mouth coating flavors that are built on a base of fine minerality, all wrapped in a sappy and explosive finish that oozes dry extract. This is really a stunning effort that is perhaps a bit more forward than I originally envisioned and thus I have shorted my estimated initial drinking window slightly. Seriously beautiful juice. Pale, green-tinged yellow. Lime, lemon, menthol and white flowers on the lively nose. Rich, ripe, concentrated and sweet, but with excellent verve and a crushed stone urgency to its citrus flavors. This boasts a wonderfully voluptuous texture cut by firm acidity. The long, echoing finish is thick and sappy. This set of wines offers a classic example of the way many 2008s from Chassagne-Montrachet combine serious sweetness with firm acidity, although in many wines from this vintage these two elements will require a bit of time to harmonize.

Just a hint of wet wool. Very zesty attack on the palate with attractive satin texture – the palate is much more convincing than the nose. This should shed the sulphur and grow into a very satisfying bottle. (JR)
