Tasting Notes and Scores

89 ST

Very pale, green-tinged yellow. Alluring aromas of pear and white flowers. A lovely racy village wine with nicely integrated acidity framing the brisk lemon and pear flavors. Finishes vibrant and persistent. Give this a year or two in the cellar.

The 2014 Chassagne Montrachet Village, which sees just a 5% brushing of new wood, has a light, grapefruit and melon-scented bouquet. The palate is crisp and saline on the entry with a keen thread of acidity, quite linear in the mouth with green apples and a touch of spice on the finish. It just needs a little more harmony to come through and certainly more persistence. I was hoping for more from this village cru.

Racy nose. Restrained but very confident. Bone dry and this convinces one that it will continue to develop. Builds well towards a fine, intriguing finish. (JR)

A note of smoky/struck match fully supported by rich creamy citrus. Full in the mouth and lovely harmony of fruit and refreshing acidity, subtly supported by the oak. Delicious, with a lightly chalky finish. (JH)
