Tasting Notes and Scores
Very mild reduction reduces the expressiveness but does not fully hide the otherwise fresh and airy red pinot fruit and earth suffused nose. There is good detail and excellent verve to the balanced, intense and relatively refined finish. In 2010, this is definitely more Chambolle than Vougeot in basic character. Drink: 2017+

Medium red. Reduced aromas of musky strawberry, raspberry, tobacco, crushed stone and smoky minerality. Juicy, savory red berry and earth flavors show a sappy quality and restrained sweetness, with harmonious acidity contributing to the impression of vinosity. Finishes with a light dusting of tannins and mint and herb nuances.

The 2010 Vougeot Les Petits Vougeots shows good length and persistence, but it, too, comes as a touch angular and compact. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
Once again this year I tasted with Charles Van Canneyt, Alain Hudelot’s grandson. Yields were down 30% across the board, a significant drop but not terrible considering the year. Overall the 2010s are very strong and seem to point towards a style that is a bit more refined than in the past.
