The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a classy bouquet of pure red berry fruit, incense, violet and beautifully-integrated oak. There is wonderful delineation here. The palate is medium-bodied, suave and satiny, with pliancy and elegance all the way through a seamless finish. And yet…and yet…returning after 15 minutes, it seems to lose a bit of its luster, and I notice a bit of heat on the finish. Hence, I have to reduce what was initially a big score. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
