Bright ruby-red. Very sexy aromas of pure black raspberry, smoked meat, fresh herbs and spices. Silky-sweet and very intense, with the stem component adding spice and definition to the complex dark fruit and smoked meat flavors. Densely packed, juicy and a bit youthfully imploded. Finishes very long and spicy, with a firm underlying spine for aging.

Very dark again, from 60-year-old vines. Smells more like a liqueur than a wine – so dramatically concentrated. The obverse of Roumier: big and bold and really quite sweet. Fine tannins and all pleasure. Long and energetic. Like a show-off athlete! (JR)
