The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru has an intense bouquet with apple blossom and petrichor scents - real gusto and focus here. The palate is very well balanced and one of the few Puligny Premier Crus that convey a sense of flintiness. Fine, nuanced reduction on the struck match-tinged finish, this is delightful and quite intellectual. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Tank sample. Inviting depths here: pure, intense lemon and green fruits but also a light touch of stone dust tangled up with the spice. Deep, long, creamy and fresh. Complete and harmonious. (JH)
