The 2015 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot has a gorgeous bouquet with yellow flowers piercing the citrus fruit, touches of lime flower and lemon curd emerging with continued aeration. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, lively with orange rind and melon notes, the acidity lending this Chassagne fine edginess and energy. It remains quite linear, refusing to fan out on the finish, but that does not detract from a well-crafted and delicious wine.

Bright, pale lemon-green. White peach, citrus zest and spices on the restrained, slightly austere nose. Juicy, minty and tight, offering modest flesh and revealing a slight dry edge. A distinctly cool style of 2015, perhaps due to fruit harvested too early. Colin noted that he's still trying to get used to this vineyard, which he only started working with in 2013.

Vinous
Cask sample. Vineyard bought from their lawyer just after the 2013 vintage, a little higher than Morgeot and Baudines. 25-year-old vines. Really rather sumptuous on the nose. Very exciting with a certain transparency. (JR)
