Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2013 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru gets straight to the point on the nose: taut and linear, the crushed limestone out up from, delivered with real power and focus. The palate is very saline with traces of yellow plum and orange pith, but against I find that mineralité, its marine/oyster influence that defines this quite superb Les Perrières. Just wonderful. Tasted at Le Bistro de l'Hôtel in Beaune.

Bright pale yellow. Lovely riesling-like lift to the aromas and flavor of lemon zest and crushed stone. Fat with ripe citrus fruits and spices, with an impression of sucrosite leavened by the wine's dusty impression of dry extract. Finishes with superb cut and length. This has the texture and balance of a rich Alsace riesling.

Quite reductive on the nose but with great riches on the palate. All in the future here. Dense and tight. Majestic structure, great persistence. (JR)
