Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2009 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre is super-impressive. There is a level of detail, nuance and energy to the fruit that is quite rare in 2009. The Montée de Tonnerre possesses dazzling purity all the way through to the finely articulated, chiseled finish. This is yet another superb effort from Raveneau. I have a slight preference for the 2010 here, but the 2009 will offer fabulous drinking while its younger sibling ages in the cellar.

The most reduced 2009 to this point, offering musky aromas of pineapple, vineyard peach and menthol. Large-scaled and rich; this fills the mouth without leaving any impression of heaviness. Seriously dense and voluminous wine with a palate-coating thickness of texture. Finishes with piquant notes of grapefruit, pineapple and crushed stone. A very promising premier cru for the year.

Not surprisingly, this is significantly more refined with its floral, oyster shell and tidal pool inflected nose that complements perfectly the racy, pure and strikingly well-detailed medium plus weight flavors that brim with minerality on the delicious, mouth coating and impressively long finish. This should both drink well young and age well too. Don't miss! - Outstanding. - October 2010
