Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is blended with around two-thirds whole bunches. By direct comparison, it has more cohesion and fruit intensity than the Bonnes-Mares this year. An irresistible mélange of wild strawberry and raspberry struck through with life-affirming mineralité . The palate is medium-bodied, exquisite in terms of harmony with filigree tannins. There is unerring symmetry at play, endowed with more depth and body than the aforementioned Grand Cru, sylph-like towards the finish. Sophisticated and cerebral.

Roumier produced only four barrels of the 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses, vinifying it with some three-quarters whole bunch. Soaring from the glass with scents of raspberries, potpourri, Indian spices, incense and red plums, it's full-bodied, ample and suave, with a beautifully perfumed, enveloping core of pure, vibrant fruit, its mid-palate plenitude rendering its melting structuring tannins almost imperceptible.

Four barrels, 25% new oak. Cask sample. Bright mid-cherry hue. Delightful, sweet strawberry and red-cherry nose and palate. Great elegance and length. A lacy, filigree finish. Dances off into the distance. Long. (MH)
