Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village is a promising wine in the making, unfurling with aromas of raspberries, cherries, spices, rose petals and orange rind. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and rich but succulent, with an ample chassis of powdery tannin, a fleshy core of fruit and a nicely defined finish. This was fermented with around one-third whole cluster and matured in 15% new oak. It's a comparatively high pH wine by Roumier's standards, but it remains nicely animated.

35% whole bunch, 15% new oak. Barrel sample. Super-fragrant and sweet red cherry and just a touch peppery. Open, even though it’s a cold sample, taken from a 2006 barrel. Still the emphasis on bright red fruit. More tension than in the Bourgogne and the tannins finer boned and more structuring. So fresh, crunchy. I hope it stays like this after bottling. But deep too and smooth. Tannins really smooth and dense. Lovely balance and length. (JH)
