Medium red. Lovely lift to the aromas of dark raspberry and flowers. Silky-sweet and creamy but showing excellent energy for the vintage, with harmonious acidity giving shape to the black raspberry fruit. The broad, long finish features suave, fine-grained tannins. An excellent showing today: I caught this wine at an awkward stage when I tasted it last year from barrel.

The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Combottes reveals a more intensely mineral side of Chambolle. Dark berries, spices and minerals come together beautifully in this vibrant, tense wine. The Combottes is a dazzling wine in its peer group. Tasted from tank.
