Tasting Notes and Scores
Roumier's 2013 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière is beginning to drink beautifully. Offering up aromas of sweet red fruits, blackcurrants, spices, orange rind and espresso roast, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with excellent mid-palate density, integrated acids and chalky structuring tannins that are beginning to melt into the background.

The 2013 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos de la Bussiere has a taut, well-defined bouquet with light oyster-shell scents emerging in the glass. The palate is crisp and fresh with a chalky, almost brittle texture, noticeable acidity and a tart and pointed finish. This seems just a little disjointed at the moment, so hopefully it will meld together during the remainder of its maturation period.

(racked five days prior to my visit): Expressive nose offers scents of raspberry, cranberry, clove and mocha. Supple and nicely ripe, with a lovely restrained sweetness to the flavors of strawberry, coffee and underbrush. Lower-toned than the village Chambolle but larger-scaled, finishing with solid tannic support. In comparison to the Chambolle, this wine hints at a sunny, even slightly roasted character.
