Tasting Notes and Scores
Medium red. Slightly reduced aromas of redcurrant and game. Supple and nicely concentrated, with red fruit and coffee flavors showing good density. Finishes with sweet tannins and solid length.

A subtle touch of wood sets off very fresh and distinctly earth dark berry fruit scents that lead to delicious, vibrant and well-detailed middle weight flavors that are supported by pliant tannins and bright acidity. This should drink well young but reward 5 to 8 years of cellaring as well. Drink 2019+.

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin is quite pretty and delicate, with attractive floral and citrus overtones that add nuance to the fruit. This supple, expressive Burgundy is a good choice for near-term drinking. Drink 2016-2025.

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Villages was picked on October 1 and 2. The nose was showing some reduction on both barrels that I tasted. The palate is straightforward with light cherry and raspberry fruit, easygoing with a pointed finish. Fine, if nothing extraordinary.

His wines are always much paler colours than most Gevrey producers. Six different parcels of which the top is on Les Crayères de Brouillard and the worst is near vineyards classified as mere Bourgogne land. His blend has been supplemented by the Ch de Gevrey vineyards acquired recently so they feel their village wines were better for them in 2013 than in 2012. Broad gypsy-cream biscuit nose. Very relaxed, gentle fresh fruit with no oak influence and just a nice polished finish. (JR)
