Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques offers up aromas of plums, berries, orange zest, vine smoke, loamy soil and creamy oak. Medium to full-bodied, supple and charming, with good depth at the core, powdery tannins and bright acids, it's a strong effort.

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a poised, well-defined and focused bouquet. With transparent red fruit and more mineralité than the Gevrey Village, it gains intensity with aeration but never fully lets go. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh, citrus-infused red fruit. This is a "nimble" Lavaux, linear and quite understated, although it will gain weight during the remainder of its élevage.

Cask sample. Mid cherry. Sweet fragrant, floral-scented raspberry on the nose. Fine, fresh acidity and gossamer tannins; very light of imprint. Very pleasurable with concentration on the mid palate and savoury complexity on the finish. (MH)
