Bursting with aromas of citrus zest, smoke, fresh peach and white flowers, Sauzet's 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts is medium to full-bodied, satiny and vibrant, its textural attack segueing into a delicately fleshy mid-palate, before concluding with a chalky finish.

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has a touch of reduction on the nose. Quite primal, with touches of Williams pear and cooking apple. The palate is fresh on the entry with orange rind and lemon zest, fine weight, plenty of concentration here with a persistent and quite bold finish. Quite a deep greenish straw. Notably floral nose. But the palate has great precision and charm. I can imagine encountering this in a smart hotel – definitely not in a funky wine bar. (JR)
