Healthy dark red. Superripe black cherry, blueberry and menthol on the nose. Rich, creamy and sweet, in a rather powerful style for this cuvée , but with a medicinal minerality energizing the mid-plate. Finishes with substantial but suave tannins that will require patience.

Blue/black fruit, smoke, tobacco and incense take on dark shades of expression in the 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes. This is another powerful, virile wine from Christian Sérafin, even taking into account the inherent personality of Baudes. The 2012 boasts good balance, but readers need to be prepared for a Chambolle that is virile rather than feminine.
