The 2023 Marsannay L'Ancestrale includes 100% whole bunch from old vines (80 years old) and undergoes slightly longer maceration. There is quite a noticeable reduction in this cuvée at the moment, though underneath there appears to be rich black fruit to savor. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins, bold structure, black olive-tinged black fruit and a sapid, marine-influenced finish. This will require time in bottle.

Cask sample. Deep-mid ruby. Pungent nose of blueberry, blackcurrant and raspberry. Fresh acidity, with volume and considerable structure. Lots to chew and ruminate on. Very young. (MH)
