The 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Aux Argillats has the most open nose from Tardy, the most pinoté perhaps. The palate is equally firmly in the red fruit profile, very well balanced, a sense of purity and terroir expression with great tension and poise on the finish. Perhaps my favorite from Guillaume Tardy this year.

(from 40-year-old vines on the north side of the village): Full, deep red. Musky aromas of black fruits, minerals and violet need an aeration. Sappy, salty wine with lovely intensity and alight touch; showed a creamier texture as it opened in the glass. With its firm but fine tannins, this wine should give relatively early pleasure."This vineyard never makes a wine with big shoulders," notes Tardy. On the contrary, this one conveys an element of delicacy.
