The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe Vieilles Vignes has an airy, well-defined nose with Morello cherries, raspberry and a faint graphite note in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with quite strict tannins that will gain pliancy after racking, moderate depth with a slight hardness on the finish that will again, soften. Fine.

Tank sample. Serious, complex nose already. Grunty, youthful wine that could only be burgundy. Good substance and fruit that will outlive the (noticeable) tannin. (JR)
