Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a generous fruit-forward nose with gushing red cherry and crushed strawberry scents. There's something a little "tinny" about this. The palate is soft on the entry with sour cherry and graphite notes to the fore, but the finish feels a bit raw and undernourished. This feels quite evolved and I'm not sure about its future, hence my parsimonious score. I wonder how representative this example is. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Tank sample. Mid ruby. Elegant, floral notes of cherries, flowers and raspberry syrup. Very fine tannins, silky and refined. Even a slightly oily texture. All about elegance and understatement, but perhaps lacking a little grand-cru punch and concentration. (MH)
