Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a tight-knit bouquet, earthier than the Auxey-Duresses with a touch of damp woodland complementing the sultry black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, bright red berry fruit laced with sea salt, leading to quite a precise and sappy finish that has more joie-de-vivre than the aromatics. Given the challenging growing season, this is a great success.

(the Bussières vines suffered more from mildew than from frost, according to Taupenot, and his parcel of vines above Combe d'Orveaux was totally frosted in '16): Dark red. Aromas of black raspberry and violet convey a peppery nuance but a bit less cut than the Auxey-Duresses premier cru. Sweet and supple on entry, then a bit edgy in the middle. Nicely juicy but a bit unyielding, as there's less supporting material here. Finishes dark and high-pitched, with a mineral element and an impression of hardness.
