Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2015 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru has precocious bouquet of ample red cherry and kirsch aromas, nicely defined if unashamedly showy. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple tannin, moderate acidity and gentle grip on the lightly spiced if slightly blunt finish. At the moment, the Premier Crus seem to offer more, but give this two or three years in bottle to achieve full flight. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure)

Good dark red. Aromas of raspberry, game and earth accented by spices. Juicier and tighter today than the Charmes-Chambertin, displaying excellent definition and lift, but also less silky and more muscular and in a distinctly less sweet style. Finishes with serious building tannins and pronounced salty minerality.

Recently blended and racked prior to tasting. Savoury and very different from Charmes. Very juicy. Rich but much more structured than Charmes. Leathery and lively, long and vibrant. Just a bit dry on the very end. (JR)
