Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2021 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru has more precision and focus than the Charmes-Chambertin. It is nicely detailed, mineral-rich with exquisite red and black fruit, the former more than the latter. The palate is effervescent and vivacious on the opening, with fine definition, Seville orange marmalade and a liberal sprinkling of black pepper and clove towards the satisfyingly long finish. This is a great success and it has the structure to repay cellaring.

Tank sample. Mid ruby. Lovely, sweet red- and black-cherry fruit on the nose and on the palate. This is very elegant once again, on a firm, muscular structure. Grand-cru intensity and length for sure. More expansive and less closed than the Charmes. (MH)
