The 2021 Volnay Les Grands Champs, from a small parcel adjacent to the Premier Cru, has a crisp, backward, slightly earthy nose that demands coaxing from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a pure entry of red cherries, crushed strawberry and a touch of kirsch. Smooth texture, fine-boned towards the silky finish, this is a classy Volnay. Two and a half barrels.
