Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2022 Le Chambertin Grand Cru will be bottled in March. It has a surprisingly low-key nose that demands coaxing from the glass, revealing light sous-bois -infused red fruit laced with orange rind and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red fruit and touches of orange pith and cedar, the 80% new oak nicely integrated. It just needs a bit more substance toward the finish. Fine. Tasted at merchants' 2022 Burgundy tastings in London.

Cask sample. Profound, deep and lingering on the nose and palate. Fresh acidity combines beautifully with the ripe dark-cherry and plum fruit notes. Spicy oak compliments. Has the concentration of the grand cru. Give this several years. (AWH)
