Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2017 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a rather backward and introverted bouquet offering boysenberry fruit and a touch of India ink. The palate is balanced with fine tannin and well-judged acidity. It just misses a degree of complexity and mineralité , making the finish pleasant but not memorable or profound.

Lightish crimson. Sweet with red fruit and a hint of vanilla sweetness, the sweetness balanced by a more savoury spice. A little more obviously oaky on the palate at this stage but there's a fine floral note too and refined tannin structure. More savoury finish. Already complex. (JH)
