Tasting Notes and Scores
Trapet's 2019 Chambertin Grand Cru is a profound wine in the making, and it can keeps company with vintage's finest. Wafting from the glass with deep aromas of cherries and cassis, complemented by notions of raw cocoa, blood orange, smoked meats, rich soil tones and spices, it's full-bodied, multidimensional and complete, with a weightless, elegant profile despite its prodigious concentration, its structuring tannins entirely concealed in an ample core of lively, vibrant fruit.

The 2019 Chambertin Grand Cru has an exquisite bouquet, with dried rose petal-infused brambly red fruit and more mineralité than its peers—perhaps greater transparency too. The palate is medium-bodied, charged with sappy redcurrant and cranberry notes, a "bony" structure, fine sapidity and a crunchy finish with a healthy dash of cracked black pepper. A slightly more tannic style of Chambertin, possibly with a little more skin maceration than others, I suspect this is a long-term prospect. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
