Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2016 Chambertin Grand Cru has a very well defined bouquet with pure red berry fruit, crushed stone, tea leaves and rose petal scents that blossom in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, a little tightness to contend with at first. Becomes razor-sharp towards the finish. Maybe I was expecting more substance, but the freshness and vitality carry this over the line. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

I tasted this from bottle and it seems even more relaxed than a Rousseau Chambertin! On the nose anyway, though admittedly on the finish there’s a bit of tension and ambition. Really quite difficult to read. I think at this price I’d probably go for the Chapelle Chambertin. Muscular finish. (JR)
