Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes is showing brilliantly, mingling notes of raspberries and dried flowers with hints of sweet spices and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's lively and precise, with fine tannins and a long, mineral finish. This is still half a dozen years away from showing all its cards, so readers with bottles in their cellar should try to continue to exercise patience.

(Tremblay vinified this wine with 70% whole clusters to maintain vivacity): Healthy medium-dark red. Lovely spicy, floral high tones to the dark raspberry and licorice aromas. Dense, sappy and spicy in the mouth, conveying the creamy mid-palate texture of the vintage's better examples with a high pitch that I rarely find in lower-altitude Chambolles in 2015. (Again, the later bottling--in July of this year--appears to have been very constructive for maintaining vivacity.) Finishes with serious breadth, a firm spine of ripe tannins and lingering notes of dark berries, licorice and spices.

Dark ruby. Treacly nose with some freshness on the nose. Very racy and muscly. Sassy and lively. Very intense. Quite showy but a pleasure giver. Rich yet not too sweet. (JR)
