Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur 1er Cru offers plenty of red cherry and crushed strawberry on the pastille-like bouquet. The oak is nicely integrated if not overly complex. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, and rather foursquare. You might describe the finish as "dour". It just needs more joie-de-vivre and flesh. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Lightish crimson. Delicate dark-red fruit. A little more savoury and meaty on the palate. Tight, chewy and fresh. Balanced, correct, perhaps not a standout. (JH)
