Tasting Notes and Scores
Deep but translucent ruby. An exceptionally floral nose displays cool and airy aromas that seem to be composed of essence of raspberry and dark currant along with plenty of spice nuances. There is an intense minerality to the medium-bodied flavors that possess fine mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in a saline-inflected and explosive finish that flirts with austerity before rounding off. 2012 is clearly a very powerful vintage for this wine and it is going to require plenty of bottle age. The 2012 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru has a very detailed bouquet with a touch more nuance and complexity compared to the Chambolle Musigny Village : blackberry, mineral and a slight marine influence. The palate has a firm backbone, plenty of black pepper here sprinkled over the broody black fruit: masculine and intense with a long sustained finish and that pinch of black pepper lingering on the aftertaste. This will need 8 to 10 years in the cellar but it will be worth the wait. - eRobertParker.com, June 2015
