The 2020 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru, which contains 30% whole bunch, is slightly more backward on the nose compared to th Les Champans. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy, ripe black cherry and raspberry fruit laced with clove and white pepper. Solid and quite grippy on the finish, there has fine persistence and should age with style. Closure: Diam 5

Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Deep in perfumed red and dark-red fruit. Intensely perfumed without being OTT. Juicy cherry and cranberry on the palate. A fabulous wine, seamless, integrating zesty, energetic fruit and freshness with beautifully refined, definite tannins. Stunning and GV . (JH)
