Moderate wood serves as a backdrop for very fresh, cool, highly nuanced and densely fruited aromas of primarily red berries laced liberally with ample earth and briar notes that are picked up by the textured, pure, detailed and focused medium weight plus flavors that possess a taut muscularity on the long and explosive finish. This is a very solid but not necessarily huge Bonnes Mares but it's clear that there is a firm tannic spine lurking beneath the pinot baby fat so be prepared to have some patience.

70% new oak. Planted in the old quarry – always very ripe. Long – 25 days – maceration with very little pigeage. Old basket press. Gamey nose, Fresh and punchy and with lots of life and very well integrated fruit. Long and flattering – so sweet! Long and ripe and flattering. Well done! (JR)
