Now that this has been in bottle for one year, I had a chance to retaste it and it has slightly surprised to the upside. The nose has opened considerably and is now fresh and bright with plenty of Gevrey character plus distinct game and leather notes followed by flavors that are quite elegant and refined for its level. This possesses fine acid/fruit/structure balance and offers excellent finishing detail and precision.

(bottled the day prior to my visit) Medium red-ruby. Aromatic nose of cherry, leather and smoke. Sweet, fleshy and broad, with low-toned flavors of game and earth. Nicely creamy texture. The tannins spread out on the back.

Cask sample. Relatively light crimson. Rich and round. Coffee. Easy. Again, lovely texture. (JR)
