The 2012 Nuits St. Georges Les Damodes is plump, juicy and inviting on the palate, with lovely depth and resonance. This is another wine that comes across as raw and not fully formed. In this case, the malos aren't fully finished yet. Still, there appears to be plenty of mid-palate pliancy here to suggest the Damodes will develop nicely over the coming months and years.

Good dark red. Aromas of black cherry and truffley underbrush. Densely packed but rather powerful, showing an almost liqueur-like ripeness to its flavors of red and darker fruits, minerals and licorice. Very bright and energetic but also noticeably oaky in the early going. Finishes with building, wood-influenced tannins and excellent length. In a somewhat tougher style than the more harmonious 2013 version, and in need of patience.
