Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with red cherries and blueberry fruit, well-defined, hints of wilted violet percolating through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite chiselled and tensile, perhaps missing just a little complexity on the finish. There is an elegant quality here, that should see it age with panache. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Ripe fresh and dried red cherries. Firm, chewy and better balanced than the Volnays. Has the classic firmness of Pommard but also the fruit to balance. But it is a flat overall. (JH)
