The 2018 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Au Vallon comes from south-facing vines. It has a different bouquet than the regular Hautes-Côtes; here the fruit is darker and a little more opulent thanks to the southern exposure. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins and good density. Matured entirely in one-year-old barrels, and the oak does feel a little vocal on the finish, but I suspect it will be assimilated with a couple of years in bottle.
