Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes Dessus has turned out brilliantly, offering up aromas of citrus pith, confit lemon, vanilla pod and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with impressive concentration in this vintage, it's satiny but incisive, with tangy acids and a long, saline finish.

The 2018 Meursault Les Charmes-Dessus 1er Cru has a harmonious nose with scents of lime, lemon zest, melted candle wax and grilled walnuts, the latter becoming more pronounced with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a spicy opening. Good weight in the mouth, maybe missing the tension of other vintages blessed with cooler summers. The dab of lemongrass towards the finish livens things up. Drink over the next decade. - Neal Martin

The 2018 Meursault Charmes-Dessus 1er Cru has a much more muted, quite Puligny-inspired bouquet, more malic than its peers but with fine mineralité. The palate is well-balanced, again, more malic (perhaps early picked?) Tensile and focused, maybe it just needs more substance and grip on the finish that feels just a little shrill, something you would not expect in this vintage. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.
