Deceptively medium in body, the 2013 Beaune Bressandes is quite expressive. The flavors are bright, while the overall style is built on energy and verve, all signatures of the year. White pepper, crushed flowers, cranberry and rhubarb add nuance as this bright, chiseled Burgundy shows off its distinctive personality.

The 2013 Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes has a deep and broody nose, like meeting the bouncer at a dodgy nightclub on a wet Wednesday night. The palate is more inviting with supple tannins, quite plush in texture, lending it "rondeur" and the angular, slightly chalky tannins lend tension on the finish. This has good potential...just wait for those "bouncers" to calm down after two or three years.

Relatively dark crimson. Dense and purple fruited on the nose. Well worked with good, ample fruit dominating the palate. Then quite a drying finish. Impressive finish though and certainly not marked by too much acidity. (JR)
