Tasting Notes and Scores

91 NM

Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Pommard 1er Cru les Rugiens from François Buffet has an open-knit bouquet with bright red cherry and bergamot scents, a touch of scorched earth coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and well-judged acidity. Perhaps it is just a little disjointed at the moment, but that should meld together. This is a well-crafted Pommard and it develops a pleasing spicy, black pepper edge on the finish that is very appealing.
