Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2015 Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru initially feels a tad loose-knit on the nose, missing the fruit concentration of its peers. But that seems to develop with time in the glass as it gains brambly red fruit mixed with sage and tobacco aromas. The palate is balanced, with firm tannin and good acidity, but some dryness creeps in toward a finish that calls out for more flesh than is ultimately delivered with aeration. This is a perplexing showing, but judging Buffet's other 2015s, I suspect this will come good in the end. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
