Tasting Notes and Scores
Moret's 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Perrière reveals attractive aromas of cassis, raspberry, licorice, blood orange and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, succulent palate with velvety tannins and good depth at the core. The 2017 vintage already displays more energy than the inaugural 2016 rendition, so the future appears to be bright for this cuvée.

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin La Perrière 1er Cru comes from a new parcel that contains a cluster of old vines, and younger vines that tend to be rather vigorous. This matures in 60% new oak with around 20% whole bunches. This has quite a floral bouquet with pure blackberry and raspberry fruit intermingling with pressed violets, understated but very focused. The palate is well balanced with a sweet, saccharine opening: macerated black cherries, cassis and a touch of fig, perhaps just a little too sweet on the finish, yet it should age well.
